guest blogger: francesca borgognone recommends top 5 headbands for spring!

AIN’T NO SUNSHINE, BUT THERE ARE HEADBANDS TO HAVE…

Though it is hard to believe that Spring is upon us and despite Mother Nature’s way of reminding us to never leave the house without an umbrella, warm weather is in everyone’s minds in New York City. Walking down the streets of Manhattan, it’s obvious that women are tired of wearing bulky clothing as they’ve started to wear scarves in bright hues, peep toe flats, and sundresses paired with candy colored cardigans.

As a headband connoisseur at Henri Bendel I have to admit that I’m about ecstatic the spring and summer collections! The must-have list of a “Bendels Spring” consists of innovative shades, a carryall practical tote, a silk scarf, and of course, the perfect headband to tie it all together.

Truth be told, it is safe to say that wearing a headband is not always necessary. However, when an outfit calls for one or there’s a perfect occasion to wear one—a headband can take you from trendy to utterly unique, if you make the right choice.

TOP 5 HEADBANDS FOR SPRING by Francesca Borgognone:

1. For those of you that know about headband designer Jennifer Behr, you know what it means to wear Jennifer Behr. A consistent designer she makes pieces that are always noticeable when you wear one out on the town. This piece is no different. At almost two inches thick, this crystal on chiffon showstopper will definitely turn heads. It is a bridal piece retailing at $595.00, so be prepared for a little extra buck for your bang but it’s worth it for the right setting.

2. This one is a no-brainer. Deepa, a New York-based brand, has already had recognition at other stores worldwide. Exercising the style of Indian-born designer, Deepa Gurnani, the brand mixes beads, crystals, and vintage fabrics to create bohemian wonders. This crystal twist (in burnt orange) you can wear pushed back, bohemian style, or create a quick up-do and you’ll find yourself the center of attention. Available in multiple colors.

3. A newer Henri Bendel headband designer addition is CandyBand. Brings us a combination of soft fabrics and bold sequins. A Brooklyn-based brand, they’ve made their mark at 712 5th Avenue and have continued to be carried in other major retailers. They proved right with this adorable band, a chiffon rosette on a sequin base. Wear it as you will and embrace the femininity!

4. Alum of the headband department, Medusa’s Heirlooms remains the number one selling brand. A brand that brings casual, occasional, and seasonal together you’ll definitely find something in their extensive and consistent collection. This headband is no different as part of its Spring/Summer collection, two chiffon rosettes in a tribal print in orange and green. Perfect for a day-to-night look or for a little black romper. Available in multiple colors.

5. Lastly, what has become a super seller over at Henri Bendel and somehow manages to look good on about everyone, is this dainty piece from Marie Hayden. A soft mauve color, this subtle beaded number is perfect as an add on, to stand out, yet reserved. $58.00 Available in two color combinations.
